Brumpton Pastoral

Brumpton Pastoral is an expanding family run, mixed farming operation located near Mitchell and Cunnamulla, Qld that is now in its fourth generation of Brumpton family management. We operate across several different properties totaling 125,000 acres consisting of stud and commercial Merino sheep, cattle breeding and trading, goats and dry land cropping. We are very passionate about what we do and love our land, therefore we aim to make each acre and species as productive and profitable as we can whilst at the same time being sustainable and looking after our environment. In doing so, we rotationally graze our livestock and spell country, and also continue to develop unproductive country by working up the soil and planting improved pasture species that not only benefits the soil health but increases production turnoff. With the help of modern technologies, we also aim to operate efficiently and effective so that we can minimise our inputs at the same time as increasing our outputs.

Our main focus is primarily our sheep enterprise where we aim to run about 20,000 plus Merinos, with most of these being a commercial self-replacing flock. These are run alongside approximately 15,000 rangeland cross goats and 1000 trade backgrounding cattle. The farming operation consists of both summer and winter dryland crops that are either made into hay, harvested or used for livestock fodder or finishing. We are currently broadacre cropping approximately 6,000 acres including 2000 acres that is Organic Certified, comprising mainly of oats, barley, wheat, canola, sorghum, millet and mungbeans.

We endeavour to take a balanced approach to innovations that allow us to sustainably improve our livestock, industry and our future.
